UNEC: UNN CAN AVOID SHUTDOWN ONLY IF....
I cannot pretend and send social bcs on this platform and beyond and ignore the plights of our very own in UNEC resulting to the annihilation of the SUG and eventual shutdown of the campus. It is appealing and calls for a careful analytical scrutiny.
Need I remind us that history repeated itself but in the worst of outcomes. We can recall that activities in UNEC sometime last year that infected the Nsukka campus subsequently was for the same issue- Light and water.
But, Thank Godness, the situation was managed and thus we proceeded on a TWO-WEEKS mid semester break in other to actively control the situation. But why not this time?
This begs the reaction:
*the SUG unec has not done well to voice the grievances of students from unec and a peaceful protest turned out to be a violent one!
*there is a gross communication Gap on the part of the school authorities and the SUG, the students at large
*we have an unarticulated and ineffective public relations.
We need not add to this literature; the recent economic situation of the country and not forgetting the TSA implications and how it has affected several down-stream sectors as Education and thus, we can be patient with the school..if there was effective communication. Apparently, the SUG will still hold its position if they uphold non-violence in their protest....UNEC will not have been shutdown if there was a conscious communicative delivery and an effective PUBLIC RELATIONS on the part of the SUG and the school authorities...
We can avoid occurrences of this sort in future,
* if We, the school authorities rejuvenate our communication lines
* if we, the school authorities resuscitate and fuel our PUBLIC RELATIONS.
With this, I strongly believe that there will be room for authorities-students relationship as we aim to continually hold the title of being a great citadel of learning. top in Nigeria by Biometrics.
